For those of you who don't know what this "EMO" thins is, this is my view on the term:

emo is actually short for emotional. which makes no sense to music. because all music has emotion in it, otherwise it's not music. but the word emo has turned into kids that are trying to be different, even though they're exactly the same as the million other emo kids.

APPEARANCE:
black hair with one or two blonde or red stripes and bangs that cover one eye. the hardcores wear makeup and even shave weird parts of their head to look different. then they are suited with girls jeans for both sexes. and if they are loose, they aren't emo enough. black is the coolest color in the emo world but sometimes they try to find neon colors or lime green or something that nobody else would wear. studded belts are kind of getting old in the emo world but leather belts with huge trucker buckles are in. it would be a crime to wear the pants around their waist too. they must be hanging lower because butt crack is vital. if you don't have anything pierced you are so not emo. whoever can get the biggest holes in their earlobes is the most emo. lip rings and eyebrow rings aren't emo unless they are accompanied by the rest of the emo getup...then they are extremely emo. sometimes emos find it cool to wear socks on their arms with black and white stripes...holes cut for their thumbs. must be to cover up all the cutting they've been doing Wink western button up shirts are becoming emo as well (the ones with the snap buttons) shoes: converse allstars, checkered or oldschool vans, gravis wear, or anything that "nobody else has." Band t-shirts are HUGE in the emo world. mostly local bands that nobody knows about but sometimes you see some bigger bands from poser-emos like alexisonfire shirts. Those indian sweaters made out of wool are also very emo. value village itself is like an emo superstore. your soooo emo if you shop at value village, but make sure you check out both sections, men and women. glasses aren't emo unless they have thick frames like weezer, then they are extremely emo. Girls are emo if they wear pants under their skirts or if their skirts are really hippie like. anything brown is pretty emo. your exceptionally emo if you can find shoes that aren't popular in the emo community like: bowling shoes, ballet shoes, or golf shoes. summer time emos usually wear cut off pants with pulled up socks. aviators are emo because they were worn on top gun, and top gun = emo beyond belief.

BEHAVIOR:
There are many different things emos do to stay cool in the emo community. Myspace is an emo breeding ground. If you're not on myspace, you're not a true emo. Emos love going to local shows but moshing is out of the question. Hands in the pockets or holding other peoples (boys and girls) hands and swaying back in forth to the music. They think that they're really feeling the music and that it's so deep. When they hear the lyrics they think of their own horrible lives. "Draw diagrams on my wrists and trace them with razorblades" is an example of the type of music they love. Being bisexual is sooooooooo cool in the emo community. Of course they aren't gay, kissing other guys is just emo so its ok....sick. Some of the poser emos will mosh at shows because they want to have a good time but then they realize they are so not cool for moshing so they sit back and cry about how their boyfriend and girlfriend dumped them just to look emo. Going back to the myspace topic. There pictures must be taken be themselves either in a bathroom mirror or taken from above holding the camera up with their arm. Then, smiling is prohibited. You must look sad, lonely, depressed, misunderstood. then you can use some cool effects on paint shop pro and make yourself distorted because distortion is emo. Bands that emo's listen to include the following: dashboard confessionalm hawthorne heights, from first to last, from autumn to ashes, greeley estates, fall out boy, boysetsfire, glory nights, anything with the words ashes, autumn, september, boy, fire, flame, death, blood, pain. The drummer from thrice made up a good band name: "dark septembers bloody bleeding skies of tomorrows ashes in the wake of death and deady deadness" (Riley of Thrice) Now hear comes the hard part to hear for everyone. There are lots of things that are awesome that are now emo. Things that I love are emo: Thrice, coheed, circa survive, the postal service, etc. Now im not saying emo is a bad thing. We are all emo at heart. So being emo is ok. Although i don't dress like an emo or make out with guys wearing make-up, I am still emo. The emo world goes so much further than this message. If you want to hear more about emo just talk to me. I have defined every angle of the emo world. So add your comments about emoness.

Hahaha okay pretty much all of that stuff is true, and now emo is going out of style- so nobody wants to be known as it anymore. people who were once considered emo are now thowing away their chucks and skinnys to replace with the next big thing i think its sad that people have to change who they are to be accepted into something, and to make all the people into the same kind of music cop the 'emo' labelling too. and yeah there are the original emo's who were emo before it was the in thing and arent actually posers and i dont have anything against them. i just hate people who pretend to be something they arent just for the look of it.

i dunno dude. i dont think it really matters...if they wanna dress like that or behave in such a way, i reckon we should just leave em alone.
